Check this out. A buddy bought a new 400 and decided to pull his baffle on the first ride and broke 2 of the 3 bolts holding it in.(brand new bike) Told the dealer it happened while riding and they are going to give him a brand new muffler but said the bolts are loctited in from the factory, even though the manual says to pull the spark arrester for cleaning occasionally. Does this make any sense? He wants them to unscrew the new bolts on the new muffler when it arrives and they refuse.

 

those bolts come out. they are just somewhat tight at times. i would just buy a slip on if he wants a bit more power.
