raptor light bulb dim?
#1
I wrecked my rappy a few weeks ago and it broke the light mounts so i bought a new back bucket and installed it all back on. But now the light is dim on high or low beams. Is the bulb going out or could there be a short. I hope its just going out, but it seems that its only doing this after i wrecked it could anything else cause this? Thanks In advance as this is my first post here and my first quad.

Welcome to the forums 03660R. Is it only the one side that is dim or do both sides now dim? If so, leave the lights on and unhook the one that you think is bad and see if the other one gets a lot brighter, then you'll know it's a short. If it's only that one, then just pull the bulb from the good one and try it in the other one, but that's probably all it's going to be is a bad bulb because they are two filament bulbs for high and low so they could be shorted together. A new bulb is a cheap way to check.

Clean your connections where the harness plugs together. A dim light is usually a sign of a poor ground and or a high resistance connection. The resistance of the bulb is what makes it glow. If there is high resistance to ground on either side that is where the load is being placed not on the bulb. Clean your connections well and put some dielectric grease (available at any parts store) on the connections. I have seen several with the same problem and dirty or corroded connections have always been the cause.
