Default 84 Big Red 200 No Fire

I bought a go-kart that has a 1984 Big Red engine and rear end on it. It's not getting any fire. I looked at a wiring diagram and all the wiring seems OK. Can anyone tell me how to check the electronics? Regulator, solenoid, inhibiter relay pickup coil, capacitor discharge ignition unit. Or would it be just as easy to pull out everything except what's absolutely necessary. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, for starters, the 1984 BigRed and 1984 TRX200, which share the same engine and electronics are notorious for having electrical problems. Mainly because the stator and the rectifier have proven to be less than reliable by Honda standards.

As for testing all of the pieces that you mentioned. It is a very detailed process with each one and would take hours to post all of it. I would suggest you get a service manual and go from there. I will say that your solenoid is not going to be your problem unless the engine isn't even turning over from the starter motor.

And as for "pulling out what is absolutely neccessary". You can't do that with any of the parts on this engine because all are indeed neccessary for the enigne to run.

Hey Knowsalot,
Thanks for the input. I guess I better get a manual.
