Race Gas Burns Up Valve Seats???
#1
My friend was speaking with the owner of a quad and dirt bike shop in my town and he was told that running 100% race gas in a four stroke will burn up your valve seats? Is this true? I am running Blue Power 110 leaded race gas in my new YFZ only because that is all I had, should I be worried and not run it anymore? I know there is no performance gains, and I plan on switching to 91 pump gas soon, but I figured there was no sense in letting that 110 sit around and go to waste.

My uncle is an engine builder and runs 100LL in his high comp Camaro (his father in law owns the pumps so its very cheap) and VP leaded fuels in many of his engines. He suggested to me possibly switching to a leaded gasoline in my quad but I have stuck with pump and non oxygenated, non leaded race gas. He however has never had any reliability, wear, or any other gasoline related issues with leaded gasolines (as long as its the right octane and carbeuration). But thats on a car, not completely different but enough to make me suspect.
I have heard that the lead will burn up the valve seats, its one of those urban stories that I cannot for the life of me prove one way or another. So I just lay off the lead just to be safe. Where are the Mythbusters when you need them?

why would you want to put leaded gasoline in your engine.. they still sell it? i only see un-leaded.
