Default 03 raptor one-way and starter questions and help

Ok here the scoop. Ive got a 03 raptor thats runs very stong, and seems to be in great shape, i bought it about a month ago used. Well since ive had it its made a chuncking noise when i start it and even while idleing or when i going slow in 1st or 2nd gear untill i rev it up. I searched the forums and it sounds like the one way is gone. Anyways i was riding saterday and when i got ready to load it up on my trailor, it wouldnt start. You could hear the starter going but nothing was happening and the motor was not turning over. So is the starter f*cked or is it the one way bearing and gear? Im planning on pulling it apart either sat or sun but thought i would ask to see what you guys thought. THis is my first quad so i dont know much about working on them but am alright with cars. And my buddy is pretty good.

1: what do i look for when i take it apart?
2: if its the one way im going with the LA kit how hard is this to install on a scale of 1to5?
3: is it safe to pull start my bike and pop the clutch and ride it till i fix it or will it mess things up more?

All help and answers will be apriciated. also what cause this to happen since i bought it this way?

dont ride it till you fix it,,,your oil could be contaminated with metal pieces from the one way

i had to pull my top end because a bott head got caught in my cam chain

its just not worth it,,,,,wait to ride it

when you get the old one out,,,,take inventory on all the metal parts and such

use a little magnet probe (sears) to fish around in the bottom of the motor for any errant pieces
