go kart question?

hello i jsut purchased a yerf dog 6.5 hp go kart its a 4 stroke engine. i was wondering if i need to break it in a local mechanic said no due to it being a 4 stroke but i was asking here because well it seems you guys would know best!

Always a good idea to take it easy on a new engine.... though on engines like this it is less important since they aren't incredibly high reving, and their life span is shorter than a motorcycle engine, for example, anyway. If you want to be nice to it try not to do full throttle runs for the first 5 to 10 hours or so of use, and change the oil at 5 or 10 hours to remove any manufacturing filings, etc.
