My 98 300 4x2 will barely take any gas at all......if you give it any at all it just dies and or back fires. Sometimes it will take off just fine and then all of a sudden bog down and jerk. I think it is the carb........what is the best way to go about repairing this? Should I buy a kit and overhaul it myself or take it to the dealer and have them do it? How big a job is it? Thanks

 

Have you swamped it? You could just have crap in the carb jets. Take it apart and clean it, you shouldn't need to put a kit in it. How old is your gas? If it has been sitting around in a can it could have collected alot of moisture and now it is bad, just some suggestions.

 

Check the carb for dirt or bad gas first!! That carb is also noted for having problems like you described. The dealer may have to update your carb to the new 2001 style. I have a fellow club member that had the same trouble that it sounds like you have had. Good luck!!!
