Default top speed '04 sportsman 600 (truth only)

I have an '04 sportsman 600 that goes 55-60 on gravel. This machine will do about 40 on hard pack snowmobile trails or frozen lake with or without a windshield. Will anyone's go faster in these conditions or is that average? Thanks.

I have a 03 sportsman 600. On open road or gravel, I can get it to 50-55. On hard pack or grass 42 was max. I was able to get another 5mph replacing the factory air filter with a K&N. One day while cleaning the air cleaner, I washed the factory cloth cover that fits over the air filter and it. Before re-installing it, I put my mouth up to it and sucked in hard. Believe it or not this fabric resrticted the air flow. I left it of and just put the air filter itself back in the machine. I instantly got power in high rpm. I now get 60 mph open road and 50-55 in hard pack and grass all day long.

I have raced 700's and where neck and neck until around 50mph. The 700 will start to pull away. But 0-50 there is no differance

what i found odd is that the 500 motor and the 700 EFI motor would be neck and neck in a drag, but the 800 will beat the 500 by a few bike lengths. i dont get how that could be as the 700 and the 800 are the same motor exept bored out like 70cc's
