Scrammy 400---Problem with keeping a flywheel on
#1
I keep sheering the keyway. I now have wreaked my 3rd flywheel. Has anyone had this problem?? my scrammy is highly modded,is that a factor??
I have thought of drilling in a set screw, now that I have no teeth for the starter.
I just went with NO electric start. I couldn't keep a starter alive,so i just knocked off the gear/teeth ring off in hopes of that, that will lighten the flywheel enough to stop me from shearing another keyway.

Balancing is one thing. Also, this might sound like a stupid question, but are you getting it tight enough? I imagine if your holding it and trying to hand tighten it then it probably is not enough. Use an impact gun if you can. Plenty of us have never had that problem with a race mod.

I have had this problem before and have also messed up two flywheels. Rick told be to put some red loctite whenever I put it on and have never had a problem again. You still need to make sure that you get that nut on tight, but the loctite should fix your problem if it is balanced. You may want to send that flywheel to someone and have it done, doesn't cost that much and it will save you a big headache.
