Scrambler 500 4x4 Towing Capacity?
#1
I've about decided that this will be the ATV I will get when I can find the right one.....
One thing I can't find is what the towing capacity is on one? I can find information on here about, racks, plows etc to make it more of a "utility" ATV but can't find the towing info. Want to be able to tow a trailer behind it for cutting wood, moving dirt etc and will more than likely get the cart that will not overtax the ATV's pulling capacity.
Thanks,

I have no idea what the towing capacity is but I wouldn't use the scrambler to tow anything. I was pulling some big rocks around the yard this summer with my scrambler and it didn't take much to smell the belt burning. If you need an atv to tow with I would stick with something with low range. Just my .02.

I just looked a Polaris site & they don't list towing capacity for the Scrambler, bt the Sportsman 500 is rated at over 1200 lbs . I've pushed cars around my driveway & tow a trailer with 3 yards of ground mulch from bed to bed around my lawn & also towed my fathers 18 hp garden tractor up hill for a 1000 feet & it didn't hurt mine . I think as long as you don't try to poke around it'll tow more than you think.

if you look the trailboss is rated for 800lbs max towing and has no low range.....
I will use my scrambler for towing.. if I smoke a belt.. so be it.. I have towed a lot, full sized elk.. ect... It also does fine going up rather steep inclines with 2 LARGE people on it.. if it will handle my fat butt and a friends it will handle some towing..
I would think that the most important thing when towing is dont' be gentle on the thing.. hit it so it gets some rpms and grabs the belt good.. coming on slow will cause you to smoke the belt.

most of the time towing capacity is not how much you can pull ... it's how much you can STOP after getting it going. I've pulled 3500lbs of brick on my trailer with my 16HP lawn tractor ... but i can't stop it at all ... the weight will just jack knife the tractor and push it until it wants to stop.

im never gonna use mine for trying to pull some1 out of the mud again, man a friend of mine was stuck and they hooked him up to my grab bar, i flipped it in 4 wheel drive and it took about a minute and i could smell the rubber, my advice to u is not to use it for that purpose, u can if u want, but guys at my local dealer tell me its much more for the sport insted of the utility

I would say 500 lbs max. Being that you have no low range, I would agree that the best way to pull would be to get it hell! Dont let the belt slip very much. In fact, you could give Rick Ritter a call and see if he has a spring that would actually lower your clutch engagement.
