Default Raptor won't run right

My 04 Rator will not run right after running through deep water. The wheeler quit running under water and sucked water into the engine. I removed the plug and turned it over to empty the water as much as possible. It ran, but hasn't run right since. I have changed the oil to get out any water that got into the system and checked the plug and filter. It will run until you give it some gas and then it wants to die and back fires really bad. I tried adjusting the idle screw, with no success. Any suggestions?

86LT250RFatty,
Do the carbs need to be taken apart or can I just purchase some carb cleaner and spray them out? Thanks

Your going to have to take the plastics off, and take the carbs out, their are 2 carbs but their connected. You have to take the float bowls (bottems) of each carb off, and spray them with carb cleaner to clean everything, maybee even take the main jets out and blow them clean with compressed air and then check the floats for fast un-stuck action. good luck.

I pulled the carbs out and cleaned them well. I also replaced my air filter. The combination of the two fixed my problem. Up here in Alaska when you run through the water you get glacial silt, about the consistancy of grafite, in everything. Thanks for the help

Good thing that you got that problem fixed at a low cost. That would have sucked if you had to take it to the dealer, they would have charged you a lot to have that fixed.
