Default 400 Sport Secondary clutch

I installed a clutch kit, the primary change went without any probs. The secondary went alright just confused on the directions. It says to rotate the moveable sheave counterclockwise. OK, what the $%#* is a moveable sheave?? The directions had no pictures and I assume the sheave would be the inside part of the "wheel" (not sure what it is called, the whole clutch that you have to remove) I rotated this and put in the new helix and snap ring. But as soon as I let go of the sheave it turned back to were it started. Did I turn the wrong part? If someone has pictures or knows where there are detailed directions please let me know. Thanks.

OK, the clutch sheaves are the 2 actual halves of the clutches. They call them sheaves on the primary as well. When assembling the secondary, of course the helix side is up. You have one spot on the splined shaft that has to match up with the helix. Put the spring in the place, then slide the helix down with the marks lined up. Only push the helix down about 1/4 inch or maybe a little more. With the helix barely on the shaft you turn the clutch face right under the helix 1/3 turn CC (to the left) then finish pushing the helix down and put the keeper on. It is a little funny the first time you do it, but it gets much easier with a few tries. Hope this helps,Bubba

OK I did everything like that just did not have the helix on the shaft before turning. Should the sheave turn back when I let go of it after the helix and snap ring are back on?

No. You have just tightened the spring. Time to put on and go ride.

It helps to have an extra set of hands when doing this.
