400 Sport Shootout

Did you guys read this artical in ATV Action? They say the Z beats the EX by over 4 quad lengths in the 100yd dash. What a load of crap! I have never................ever ................EVER been beat that bad by a Z. Where do they get these guys? Are they sure it wasn't a 300? No wonder the Z guys think they can beat Raptors after reading BS like this.......lol. I do think the Z is a little faster but not that much.....good god! I do think Honda has it priced too high............and thats why they should have left the 04s alone! Imo.

Same thing in dirtwheels a few months back, they said in a drag the 400ex beat the rap 350 by 10 quad lengths (thats crazy).I know the 400ex can beat the rap350 easily, but not by 10 quad lengths, more like 5 quad lengths.

I own both the Z and EX (with identical mods), and I have to say that the Z is way more machine than the EX! The chassis are similar, but there is no comparing the motors. It's simple, the EX's day has come and gone. Honda is dreaming to think that they can get the same MSRP for the EX as the Z. The Z is hands down the best ALL-AROUND machine currently available. The only place I prefer the EX is on semi-technical trails, where the EX can be lugged down and doesn't mind being ridden slowly.
Honda has discontinued the venerable old XR400 dirt bike, and replaced it by the CRF450X. They need to do the same with the ATV's, and replace the 400EX with a TRX450X (with wide ratio transmission, electric start for those who insist, etc).
Same goes for the 300EX. The XR250 has been replaced by the CRF250X. Here, we need a new TRX250X.

I tend to believe it also. I haven't run into any with similar mods that have been able to stay very close, but I also know that I can't beat a Raptor either.........

.............a hundred yards isn't very far at all when drag racing.

Yeah...A TRX 450X w/ elec start & reverse would be SWEET!! Liquid cooled of course! Honda would be wise to make an X model for us non-racers. They would probably out sell the R!
