Default ITP 589 woes. Am I alone???

I have a set of ITP 589's (stock size) and I have twice had them pop off the bead when I hit a dirt bank. I have been running about 7lb. psi. I came out of a deep creek yesterday and was working my wheeler to get up the bank and when I made it out and got off to watch the others come thru, I saw my tire was flat and broke off the bead. This is the second time I have had this happen to me. Am I alone with this problem? Should I be running more pressure to help with this or is there a better solution? Thanks.

Never had that problem with my 27" 589's. I mounted my tires at a buddys tire shop and when i got the tires on the wheel i used 'bead sealer' on the tire then aired them up to 30 lbs and let them sit for 30 minutes then removed the valve core until the whistling quit, reinserted the core and wound up with just a little over 1 lb of air in each tire. That's the way i ride most of the time, aired out.. gives a lot more floatation on mud and sand and plenty of traction. when i want to ride hard and fast i will air up to around 4 lb.

I'd definately goto your local tire shop and have them smear a lil 'bead sealer' on your tires... all that is involved is letting the air out and breaking the bead loose then push the bead away from the rim and smear the liquid rubber on, on the inner and outer bead and then air em back up to specs.

Are you sure your tire are on the bead. When I put mine on i thought they were on then I let the air out of one of them and found out it wasn't all the way one. I had to put about 30 psi in them to get them to set. They went on with a loud bang

I haven't had any problems with either of my sets of tires...I have 589's and Mud Lites, both 27", mounted on ITP Type 5C Aluminum wheels....I've jammed weeds inbetween the wheel and tire, but never popped the bead....and two weeks ago I hit ice on a corner and nailed the bank hard and spun me around, jumped up in the air and i almost flipped....but, no problems...

Maybe they are not seated good. They look like they are and don't lose any air. I guess I need to put about thirty psi in the and see (or listen). I put the one that came off on Sunday back on in the field with a 12 volt mini compressor, so I know it only has had about 10 lbs. max.

I just purchased mine with the wheel set. They came with about 7lbs of air in them. On the first ride, it was really rough so I took the pressure down to about 4-4.5lbs. I tested them then and the ride was much smoother with no problems yet.

I have titan 589's which are basically the same as the itp's and I have never had or even heard of a problem like this.

I've got 25" 589's and I have never had a prob with the beads. Hell, I don't even put air in them most of the time. At the most maybe 4lbs. I'd double check your rim where the bead seats for debris. Maybe the slightest hit on your sidewall pops it cause of somethin stuck under the bead.
