Rev Box limiter on Raptor. Good Idea???
#1
I was looking into getting one of those rev box limiters that increases your rev limit on the raptor by about 1200 rpms. Are these things safe? Do they make your bike a little quicker? Has anyone used one before and how do you like it........

Stay away from it period IMO. Lokk at just about any dyno for a raptor. How much power do they show it's making at 9K rpm? After a certain point the power starts to fall dramatically, so basically if you follow the direction the power is going and just extend it by another 1k rpm, you will be making less power than you were at 9k rpm. Personally, I would feel a little uncomfortable revving my engine an extra 1K rpm just so I could make less power. Have you ever hit the rev limiter before anyway?

No I dont ever hit the rev limiter, i was just going on what some friends told me. my buddies put those things in their honda 400's. however i was a little skeptical and i didnt want to raise my rpm rate and damage my engine.

I got the box to gain more control, not having the bike limit me. I do a lot of huge hill climbs, I want the little bit of overrev. You cant always upshift in the middle of a climb.
Do you have to rev up that much.....no. But its nice that if you need to you can.

Well you will find out if you like it or not. But for the money you could of just about purchased a cam and installed it your self. If you don't like the cdi save it for when you do some motor mods, then try it again.
