Direct clamp on carb air filter?
#1
I notice some of these direct clamp on carb kits where the air filter is just clamped on to the intake end of the carb - (if they make one) where would I go about finding this type of setup for my carb? > 38mm Keihin PE

yeah, they won't advertise those types of filters but they sell them, we got one from uni for my friends banshee, i personally don't think its a good idea for trail riding, but they do make serious power.

Ya well id be doing trailing 95% of the time but not really mudding. Is there really a dif. between it being in an airbox with out a lid or right on the carb as far as exposure to water and such goes (that’s why id go with UNI & not K&N for this setup)? When I ride through water and such the box fills with water and I end up taking the drain plug off anyway... Pretty much right now I have the conversion kit for the good seal to the airbox and a K&N filter with a precharger on it and no air box lid. What I would be looking into is going for a direct clap on filter to the carb if it would be alright.

its different, the airbox acts like a splash shield, when its a clamp on you have no protection at all, buy a few filters and keep some oiled and ready because you'll be swapping them alot.

good idea, you can cut some slits into the side of the box and get outerwear material and cover them with that, thats what i plan on doing with my box, and the an outerwear over the top, so it will be getting alot of air and still have some protection.
