Let me first say, welcome to the boards. Now, in order for a 400EX to compete with a stock or mildly modded Banshee, you need some serious $$$ to do that. FOr a good starting point with your EX or any motor, you want to let it breathe. If you can afford a full exhaust, I would go with that, any company will give you a noticeable power increase but you may want to search to find the best one out there. Also, and this should actually come first, is a new filter set-up. I have ran a Uni clamp-on on almost all my bikes and it worked well, as long as you don't ride in water. From there, I would get a bigger carb, followed by a 440 bore kit and cam. That should get you close to a Banshee, I don't know if it will beat a modded one though. Just remember, have fun!

No way you're gonna beat a banshee with a 400EX unless you drop thousands into it I'm old and like to sit backand watch and the 450 hondas can barely beat a stock banshee. So if you have a thick wallet go for it or buy a banshee,

400ex is a good bike but like everybody is saying you would have to spend a lot t beat a banshee, if you even could! my advice is dont worry about losing to a banshee too much, just have fun! your buds bike is a little out of your league for racing........but not a big deal........
