Default The report card is in for the KFX 700. Can your quad make the grade?

The test is over and the report card is in. The test consisted of tight mountain trails and steep hills, soupy mud and some deep soft snow thrown in for good measure. Here are the grades the Doctor gives the KFX 700.

Power- A-. I would have given it an A but this thing real feels clogged up on the exhaust end. With a pipe I’m sure it would have made an A or even an A+.

Handling- B. It handles very well with no unexpected surprises. I don’t like the way goes through woops though. It’s so heavy that it just hammers me when it lands with a bunch of woops in a row.

Jumping- C-. It jumps fine……..it’s the landing that I don’t like!!!! With the front end up and landing in an off camber situation things can get ugly REAL quick. Feels like I’m on the end of an ugly game of crack the whip!!!

Hill climbing- A. Maybe even an A+. It won’t take on a 4X4 but this thing can really climb!!! The thing I really liked about this thing was how easy it was to climb a really steep hill. Put your belly button on the steering stem and hammer the throttle on. No shifting BS. This quad is perfect for those hills that are fast on the first part and then go into a bunch of ruts or bumps. You can go as fast or as slow as you want without breaking traction with a shift. Unlike a shifter quad, that rips the tires loose from the dirt. Belt smooth can’t be beat. Very smooth system. Kind of like traction control on a quad. If you want to cause some “erosion problems”, it’s easy accomplished with your right thumb.

Mud- B+. I got into some real soupy stuff about 5” deep and some real thick gooey stuff and there was no problems other than some spinning on hills. It did sink some because of the weight but for a 2X it did very well.

Snow- Incomplete. Why incomplete? Because the owner/driver screwed up. I did something stupid and went up a road with snow on it trying to keep my momentum up without getting stuck. By the time I realized it I was REALLY STUCK!!!! I mean like oh sheeeeet stuck!!! Lucky for me some guy on a 200 Honda bike came along and felt sorry for a moronic old man with a new toy. With a little tugging and a lot of strain I was on my way again. To the V’s credit the guy asked me “is this thing an automatic?” I said yes it is; his comment, “ that thing is baaaaaad” Now a word of warning; Do Not Get This Thing In Soft Snow or you will be sorry!!!!!

Fatigue factor- B+. I felt tired but not too bad for an old man on a 700. The only thing that really hurt was my muscles between my shoulder blades. They were sore from hanging on from the power this thing was putting out.

Fun factor- A+, with extra credit. This thing is a blast to ride. Fun, fun, fun, fun. Some people say that autos are boring. I say that people that say that have never ridden one or have bigger ***** than me.

Extra credit: A few times I got myself in a mess. Without reverse I would have been SCREWED. Some people say that reverse is not necessary. If I rode dunes all day, I might say the same. I don’t. I ride tight twisty trails. Reverse is a must!!!! Thanks for putting one on my V!!!!

There you go. The V as I see it. It may or may not fit your needs.

To my surprise, I was not the only V on the trails?!!! I saw not one, not two, but three other V’s!!!! All green, and we all gave each other a big thumbs up. Maybe great minds think alike???!!!

If anyone is a V student and wants to argue a grade that I have given it, please feel free to do so. More tests will be in the future!!!!!!

Nice review, I have a BF but I like to read up on how other quads perform.

Plus, my cousin is seriously considering the KFX 700, he was worried about it being too big or clunky feeling. Sounds like it works well in most conditions though.

Cool man!

Glad you like it Doc, its a great machine. Personally, I went with the Prairie 700. Most of the power and 4wd to boot! Of course I already had a powerful sport quad in the stable.

I would play with the springs a little and find what I liked/needed. I'm sure I dont have to tell you that it can make a great improvement.

If I were to go out tomorrow and buy a new sport quad and I wasnt racing, It would be the KFX 700. Of course I'd like the 750 in that baby.
