Lectron instalation

Well My 46 came today and thats it installed, I came across a few problems
1. throttle cable was far to short to route as shown on hpresearch web site. its a motion pro i got from rocky mountain to use with the stock carb, has anyone else had this problem ?
Solution route cable up right hand side of tank and turn twist grip upside down so adjuster is at bottom this gave enough lenth so it would reach at full lock and worked out realy well, luck was on my side.
2. fuel hose on bike is a bit to big (diameter) for the nipple on the carb , and there isnt enough room to get a clip on as the hose wall is to thick.
Solution used lock wire to clamp hose above and below raised part on carb nipple. works ok for now but far from ideal.
3. what to do with engine breather and and old vacum hose from carb going into intake.
Solution join them together
So its all ready to fire up in the morning when everone is not in bed
Any one have any better solutions to share or tips feel free

1. Not sure if I can help you with the throttle, I ran the thumb throttle with a cable from MisterHP.
2. I used a smaller diameter fuel hose. It fit on the carb perfect and was snug on tank petcock but it did fit.
3. You have a few options for the crank case vent, route it to the intake or put a small K&N on the end of it.

there was one other thing
The intake snorkel was a bit loose on the bell of the carb i built it up with electrical tape to make sure it got a good seal, Any one else notice this with the 04 snorkel ?

Everything on mine was tight, I would be careful with the tape, I'd be aprehensive that the tape would eventually slip off and leave you sucking dirty air. I have a 2003, which should be the same air duct as the 2004 and newer. What happened to your stock fuel hose? I used the hose that came with my IMS 5 gallon tank and it worked just fine on both quads.

My lectron came with a smaller fuel line(stubby) on carb that I slipped the stock fuel line over with no problems. My 2cents.

My fuel line is the standard one that came on the bike i never had it of the carb before ?
The snorkel was only a couple of mm to big for the carb mouth but i wasn't convinced the clip would close it up woithout pinching it and leaving a leak, I wraped the tape pretty tight round the carb mouth,
And the carb hase a groove running round the mouth so it should stay put. but all the same it will be checked every ride, dont want sand in there

Well i just test ran it.
On the whole im impressed, No slide issues at all, i can feel the suck shut at idle but with the twist throttle its no big deal and it wont matter in sand as the wheels spin away that sort of snap anyway , i do have a lot more throttle travel than im used to if i dont get used to geting my lazy wrist to move it i will see if i can get a twist with a bigger radius to lessen the travel.
A full throttle plug chop gave a tan plug, not bad for a carb set up for sombody elses bike that had porting done to the head. And that is with the stock filter and no lid. Having said that im at sea level and its -4 degrees and snowing so plenty O2 in the air here.
It is offering to splutter pop through the carb ocasionaly just coming off idle But a fiddle with the tuning should sort that out, I think
One questin the metering rod when you try to turn it mine wont turn unless you lift it out of its seat against the spring, I was under the impresion that it should screw in and out with minimal resistance.
And you only needed to lift it to get the flat facing back into the cylinder again once it was adjusted.
I Will check out the lectron site to see if i have missed somthing
Test runs have been called off for the rest of today because my face has frozen. hopfully it wil be a bit warmer tommorow

I am glad its working for you already. As far as turning the needle. It doesn't / shouldn't turn by hand. With out pushing up on the needle, use a small pliers to rotate the needle. If your rotated it a full turn you don't have to push up on the needle to reposition it. If you only rotated it a 1/2 or 1/4 turn then you push up on the needle by hand and rotate to orientate the flat side to the correct position.
When you push up on the needle you can rotate it all day long and you will not change the length of the needle, it only changes the orientation.
One tip, either keep track of your needle rotations or measure it. That way while tuning you can always go back to a starting point if you get too far off track.
