I am thinking about getting some new tires for my 04 400ex. I cant decide on what to get, i have narrowed it down to, razr2, kenda klaw, knarly, holeshot HD, and the 19" mxr4. I mostly trail ride (rock roads, sand, woods, some asphault) and do some play racing. A buddy of mine just got the razr2's but they are heavy, im afraid that the weight will kill my power. Another buddy or mine has the mxr4 and they seem to be holding up okay, and there the lightest tire of the bunch. They weight only about 10 pounds. Any help would be appreciated, and if anyone has any of these tires how do you like them and how are they holding up. Thanks.

 

Holeshot H-D's are a good choice for eastern trail riders. They are heavier than other Holeshots however, because of the extra rubber on those outer *****!

 

i am in the process of switching from 4 ply shredders to stock rear tires. i need something lighter for drag racing. the stock tires are much lighter and ride better. they don't corner as well though since the sidewalls aren't stiff. however, i think i will like the stock ones vs my shredders.

 

my razr 2s are phenominal in everyway shape and form, snow mud, rocks, sandy dirt, these are the tires to get, my friends with holeshots say they wish they got razr 2s, i couldnt be happier with mine.

I would like to get the razr2 but they are 17 pounds a peice. Thats alot of weight to spin. The stock tires only weigh about 13 pounds. My buddy has them and there bad a$$ but i dont like how much they weigh. Thats why i was thinking about the 19" mxr4, not to much smaller then stock, and they only weigh about 9 pounds a peice. That's a total of 16 pounds of unsprung weigh i will save if i go with the mxr4 vs the razr2. Also how do turf tammers work as a trail tire? And is anyone using the klaw for a trail tire? How do you like them? Thanks.

 

I just got new Razrs all around on Douglas .160s. I only went with the 4 plys cause I was thinking the 6 ply would be too heavy. Same thing with the .190 rims. I'll be trying them out tomorrow in 55 degree weather [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]. I "think" the stock tires are only 2 ply and mine wore out fast.

 

THE KENDA KLAW MXF/MXR BEAT OUT THE ITP HOLESHOT MX AND MAXXIS RAZR MX IN THE ATV SPORT TIRE SHOOTOUT AND THE KENDA IS CHEAPER THAN BOTH. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR DECISION!

 

I'v had Holeshots on my 400EX for about 2 years and still have about 85% tread left. They give you better performance than having stock. Just my 2 cents.

 

Maxxis Razr 2's are good for all that and last a lot longer than holeshots

 

i would go with the Kenda Klaws also, they are cheaper and will perform just as good as the expensive holeshots or the Razr 2s. also i've heard reports of the older holeshots wearing quick, but haven't heard anything about the H-D's or the MXR4's, and i don't know about the Razr 2's, but my front Razr's are wearing too fast and i'd expect the rear tires to wear even quicker cause i run 21" mudsharks but my 250R has more than enough power to spin them off easily, Razr's handle nice though. On my LT250R i got shredders the whole way around and they are one of the best tires i've had and they are a little cheaper than Holeshots and have almost the same tread pattern except for some of the Holeshots that have the angled tread on the outside
