how many people run race gas in there DS
#2
The only reason to run race gas in the DS is for high compression piston or turbo. If you are running a lower compression piston, you don't need to run race gas.
compression ratio will dictate what octane you need to run.

In another post you said you wanted to build a 730 big bore. There is no reason why you could not run a 730 big bore with a low compression piston. Race head, cams, etc do not determine what type of fuel you need.
You want more power in low, mid and high rpm ranges. So you want more power everywhere! The biggest factor as to where the power is focused is from the cam grind. A good engine builder will suggest a proper cam for your ridding style
Your limit to what you want to do is money, not what type of fuel. You can design an engine to run on what ever grade fuel you want.
On a side note, some people think its crazy if you spend $4k on your engine but don't want to spend the extra $2 a gallon for race fuel.
