Who Has Riden a RAPTOR w/ a 12 Tooth Front Sprocket?
#2
With all due respect, war99, I can't decide whether your question arrives too late, or too early.
Since you've already ordered your sprocket, asking for input now seems late.
Since the Raptor has only been released within the last few weeks and delivered to only a handful of new owners, the question seems early.
Regardless, you'll be one of the first in the neighborhood to ride a 12-toothed Raptor; I await your report.

Got my 12 tooth sprocket on Thursday night and spent about 10 hours on the Raptor Saturday. The sprocket made all the difference in the climbing ability in sand. First and second gear are much more usable now and the wheelies are so easy.
I raced a modified DS w/ fuel injection, rev box, and pipe. I beat him in a short drag of about 100 yards. His buddies couldn't believe it.

pairof98s, I would like to know more about the fuel injection the DS650 was running. Do you know if HiperTech developed it? What pipe was he running? What paddle tires front and rear? Do you know if he was running stock gearing? Why was the drag only 100 yards? Is this at Little Sahara?
By the way, I saw 2 Raptors today, all stock. I raced one of them in sand and was fairly impressed. He beat me by maybe one length the first time. The second time we were tied. The third time I won by quite a bit. The reason I didn't win the first 2 times was because I was bogging down in 5th gear due to the tall gearing I run. The 3rd race I led the whole way and kept it in 4th gear. He let me ride the Raptor too. The stock tires hook up great anywhere, including sand.

Yes, rode at Little Sahara. I didn't pay too much attention to the mods that the DS had. We ran across the valley near Buttercup and had limited space, but I outran him from start to finish. My Raptor is running better with every ride as it gets broken in more. The gas consumption is much better now also.
As for top end speed, the 12 tooth sprocket slowed it down some, but I can't say how much, maybe 5-7 mph. For those of you who only want to drag race, leave the stock 13 tooth on or go to a 14. But for my riding, I love the 12.

Plenty of room to adjust the slack from dropping a tooth. Be advised, make it easy on yourself by removing the left peg assembly (which includes the shifter, but just let it hang). You will need a 5mm allen wrench, 1 1/4" socket and an impact. I tried the 32mm, but the 1 1/4 fits tighter.
