First take the keys out of the ignition. Then, plug a rechargable spotlight or portable battery jumper into your ciggarette lighter outlet. Then, push the start button. What happens? Why does this happen only to Yamahas?

Anyone ever try this?..................If you didn't know,......it starts. It starts without the keys even in the ignition. Try it on yours.

On all years and models? I'll have to try my 05. All other functions must not work though.

It works on my '04. I wondered if they fixed it. They should! When someone showed it to me I couldn't believe it. They started my Grizzly, when I had the keys in my hand, standing 10ft. away. They had a cordless spotlight with the battery ON it. The Grizzly must get juice from the spotlight battery somehow. If you unplug the spotlight while the quad is running the quad will shut off. I guess the theives already know this trick. We tried it on a Honda Rancher and it does not work on them.

My '04 Bruin doesn't have an accessory outlet. That would suck though.

Seems to make sense, its really no different than just putting a jumper accross the two wires at the switch, except using an external battery, instead of the onboard battery. The system doesnt care where the 12 volts comes from , it just needs 12 volts on the brown/ blue wire, and thats whats happening.
I havent tried it on mine, but I believe you.

If thats the case of the atv getting power from the external battery from say the light or whatever, it can be changed if you don't want that to happen. All you have to do is cut the outlet wire, and install a Diode, that way power can not go back into the system. I have an '04 Kodiak, I must try that, just see if it works.
