im thinking asbout selling my qaud i have now for a scrambler 500 and i wanna know if it is a good qaud for cross country raceing and trail rideing

 

drag101, 500 scrammies are great trail bikes, is it 2x4 or 4x4?? don't see too many at xc races, but with a few mods it'll do fine. used to race with a friend who had 1, bought it off him when he went predator. i've been running the 400 sport for 3 yrs now for xc. finished 3rd in class at yr end this year. its beat many of the other race prepped bike out there.

 

witch scrambler would be better a 400 or 500

 

ive had both, course you can see what im still riding. dont get me wrong the 500 was great, it has alot of low end for in the woods and plenty of speed. but the 2 stroke is a little lighter up front. and you can get more ponies for you buck out of the 2 stk. ive always liked the 2 stks. i guess its all what you like to ride.

 

what is the difference between the 2 mechines except the motor of course

well if i do get the scrambler what would i have to put on it to make it croos country ready and still be able to trial ride if of course

 

Im not a big fan of polaris but i do actually like the predator and the scramblers. Their both good quads and with a few mods you can wip most quads on the scrambler.

 

if its a bone stck bike you make want to get a few things for power - pipe, filter, carb work, clutch work. good armor helps dg makes a pretty heavy set of a-arm guards and skid plates, bumper, rear grab bar is a must for getting it unstuck check out xratedscrambler's photo page, he makes his. handguards, good set of tires and spares - use your stock for spares if need to. depending on how much you want to , or have, to spend maybe a set of beadlocks. or a least a good set of rims. this should get you started, these are pretty much for any xc bike, not just the scrammy.

 

the 400 2x4 is about 100lbs lighter than the 500 2x4,not sure what the new 500 4x4s weigh in at..
