Anyone have an Edelbrock carb on there atv?

I was jsut wondering if anyone is running one on there atv and how they like it? I jsut ordered one for the 300ex i am building. seems like is a hell of alot easier to tune than a regular carb. No more jets etc.

Yeah, sure am. The thing worked awesome for me, and it should do the same for you. The accelerator pump made a hell of a difference for me, and the carb itself made my warrior reach a higher rpm limit before I even bought the dyna. The raptor 660 owners say it lacks top end for them, but it gave me a large boost everywhere for me. The largest punch will be in the midrange, but expect good gains everywhere. The throttle may be a little stiff once you install it, but a thumbsaver 2 will do the trick from rockymountainatv.com and it's pretty cheap. You may also need to grind a little off the stop point for full throttle on the thumb throttle with a dremmel to be able to reach full throttle with the new carb. If you mostly xcountry ride your in for one hell of a surprise.

Had one on the 400EX, but didn't keep it! Top end was furious, but it had a bog off the bottom that could not be tuned out. With only one circuit, what are you going to do??? If you tune for high end, you might be wrong for low end or vise versa! Don't blame me as a tuner either, because Edelbrock is like 20 minutes from where I live, and they installed and tuned it for me!
The bike bogged once on a takeoff ramp. I came up short on a big double jump. Pulled it off the next day!

Sounds like the accelerator pump, that's what it did before I had it exactly dialed in. It can only be tuned with your exact weight on the bike and riding around for a while through the gears. I've told most my friends not to even bother riding my quad around the campsites just for that reason, it just won't work right without your near exact weight on it. It is nearly impossible to have it tuned by anyone else just for that reason. That is the only thing that takes a while to tune to the hair on that carb. It probably took a few weeks for me to actually ride enough and toy with it enough to find the right spot. Once you hit it on the money it'll give you one hell of a punch.

Well it came in today and wow what a work of art! I cant wait to get my 300ex built and put it on. Im sure its going to take a while to get dialed in perfectly. here is what my 300ex build is going to consist of...
80 over weisco high compression piston
white brothers all around cam
stiffer valve springs for cam
2mm oversize intake valves
new stock size exhaust valves
edelbrock carb
350x intake tube
uni filter w no air box lid
fmf race exhaust
Jagg external oil cooling kit
high power 200watt stator
NGK spark plug boot and plug
with all this im sure it will be a while to tune it and get it to run where im happy with it. But im sure its going to be one hell of a quick 300ex. Im looking to come close to keeping up with a 400ex. Next mod after all this is 330 big bore.

I was talking today with someone who has an edelbrock carb on his 400ex. He says that the power increase is awesome and his quad pulls really hard. His only complaint about the carb is that no matter what he does his quad idles pretty high. Anyone else have this problem?

For the idle all he has to do is loosen the lock nut on the idle screw and just back it out using that flexible handle that's attached. He also might be a click lean on the idle to 1/3 throttle, making him have to turn up the idle a little to cold start.
