Raptor case cover

My buddy was doing his clutch, and screwed up his case cover. He stripped out the case where the oil line goes into the cover by the water pump. Whats his best option, helicoil it or get a new case? i saw some threads down lower, but the bolt doesn't reach them, maybe just a longer oil bolt? What do you guys think is the best thing to do?

those banjo bolts are hard to find, if you were looking to get a longer one good luck. if you can find a cheap one on ebay, i would just swap them, otherwise helicoil it.
Call Bob Craycraft he can give you the helicoil size you need.
Beware though, that it a oil line, and that banjo bolt allows oil to pass through into the case, if you do helicoil, you had better make sure you dont block the hole preventing fresh oil from getting in the case.
Possibly heli coil it, then from the inside of the case, drill out a the heli coil????

I found out the helicoil size he needs, I'll just clip the little end thing off after I install it for him like you said, so it won't interfere with the flow. A helicoil should be strong enough to hold right?

im not sure if will interrupt the flow, im not about to tear apart my case and look. the helicoil is going to be twice as strong as the previous threds.
you just need to make sure that it allows the oil to get to the case.

Yeah, I don't think it would interupt it, but I don't want to be responsible if something were to happen to it, so I'm gonna helicoil it tomorrow for him and check it out. I think I'll be able to clip it off or something, but maybe I won't have to...hopefully anyway. Thanks for all your help.

Been there done that. the coil blew out the case when I tried it. A new case was only 120. I spent a lot of $ trying to save it, drill bit, coil, and tap.

A helicoil will work if you can get in there to drill and tap it straight. That may be tough with the engine in the bike. If you don't tap it straight, the oil bolt will be loose in the threads.
The only thing I would be worried about is drill filings in the oil passage. Make sure you suck the hole out with a shop vac.
I had to helicoil the cylinder bolts holes on my bike. It worked fine. Helicoils are stronger than a straight tap if they are installed properly.
