Global positioning System. yes you can buy one, they are very handy for things like pin point location, speed and elevation, high end models include detailed mapping of areas. This is the same technology used by the military to put airplanes and missiles in the right spots. It tracks the signal of 12 GPS satellites at the same time the variances in signal allow very accurate measurement of where you are among other things.

I'm getting a GPS unit this fall for my wheeler, sled, and boat. I think i'm leaning towards the Garmin Map 12. I definatly want a map unit. Any suggestions?

I like the Map 12 also, just looking for a good deal on one before I buy one.

I have a Garmin GMS III. It is a very compact handheld complete with street maps. It also measures altitude which I believe is fairly uncommon among GPSs.

Whatever you do, get a Garmin. They are by far the best, IMO.

I have a GPS 12 Map. My only complaint is the small amount of memory. You can only load a few map sections from the optional Mapsource CDs. The eMap is supposed to accept additional RAM. However, I've heard the battery door isn't waterproof on the eMap model.

JetSport>>>> I saw your page, the huckleberry trail you show, is part of the trails I ride almost daily, I live very close and only ride actually 3 miles by dirt road to acess the trail, If you ever come back to ride it let me know, well go all over. Theres alot of trails I bet you havent seen. It is a very fun place to spend the weekend going over, You can go up and all the way over the entire mt magazine if you take the right trails, gas up and come back over. Just give me an email the next time you come to ride.

We may be coming this fall. We usually take a trip when school is out Oct. 18-20th. If we decide to come that way I'll email you.

well maybe, if there are any woods left. Today we had a major wildfire break out north of the main highway near there, if the wind shifts it may burn up through that area. but they have the planes dropping retardant and water on it so maybe it will be under control soon.
