TVI has had these "kits" for a while. I did the upgrade about a year ago. There are a couple metal brackets you'll need and you need to cut the plastic a little around the new light facha (sp?).

Don't forget some of the little hardware needed too.

I ended up making a few wires that allowed me to connect the different pin connecters of the different years.

If you have yellow plastic the black facha looks pretty good.

i got the lights orederd at promarine in henderson. they were real nice to me , yes you might be able to order the light a few dollars cheeper some where else , but they are the ones that told me it would work , so i would say they are top notch to me..they said they normally carry this light in stock , made they break easier then the glass ones , im not sure but if my bike looks newer and has more light that makes me happy, oh by the way the guy in the shop has a real nice ds , i think its a 04 with every mod available twin carbs , boon docker custom made aarms extra large gastank , he says you can switch the 55 watt bulbs in the small baja lights to 100 watters with no problems and they really shine , well i should have researched this first befor eposting the big new ds thing , i guess im not the first to think of it ,,well ill let you know how it goes , oh just for kicks the shopguy told me to run a 175 jet and a diffrent needle it look smaller he said it would make the bike throttle faster , and he was right!! or snappy throttle ,, it worked good well gota go get ready for the trip saturday to the dunes , anyone else joining our crew??? later rj

The old DS650s used an H4 bulb which is much easier to get. And you would be amazed at what a new 55/60 watt xenon H4 bulb will do for your lighting. My 04 has 2 H6 bulbs and your pretty limited on where to get the bulbs. I did find them reasonable from Ricky Stator,His Site... I put 2 35/35 watt H6 in the main and 2 55 watt H3 bulbs in the auxilary baja lights. they do pretty good but I am going to go for 2 45/45 watt H6 bulbs in the main next. My personal thought would be to go to the local auto parts house and buy a Silver Star 55/60 H4 bulb for the main and give that a try. It would be cheaper to do...one mans thoughts.... Silver star info
You can also get a standard H4 halogen bulb in a 55/110 watt form... Example J.C. Whitney

The dual does seem to trow a broader light but if you have the baja auxillary lights you can use them to broaden the pattern as well.

Why Bomb went with such an unusual light bulb like the H6 just doesn't make sense....I have an 04 and it's been a real pain to find anyone who sells them. I know Ricky stator has them from what I'm told.....

I really like the old glass light with the single H4 bulb - H4's are everywhere and there are a million different ones available with light output up to 135w so the new dual bulb light isn't really any better and the old glass light will not get scuffed and scratched by roost over time like the new plastics can.

I also have the Baja auxiliary light kit - they come with 35w H3's but I replaced them with 55w H3's available everywhere, but this is the brightest I could find. I looked all over the net, 55w is the biggest H3 I could find. if somebody knows where this supposed 100w H3 is available from please let me know, but I tend to think a bulb that bright wil melt the rear of the light housing because the 55w H3's are so hot that after the light is on for about a minute you can no longer keep your hand on the glass. I don't think H3's are available over 55w for this very reason, since their primary use is in small enclosures like this.

I believe I have seen 85W H3's but I personally wouldn't go higher than 55W on the Baja lights due to the amount of heat that needs to be dissapated in such a small area. If you really want to go brighter than a standard 55W halogen then you may want to try the PIAA Xeon H3's that put out the equivalent of 110W according to PIAA. http://www.piaa.com/Bulbs/Bulbs-H3.html

The cheapest I have found the PIAA's is a guy who sells them on Ebay out of New York for $50 including shipping for the pair. Ricky Stator also sells 55W Xeon H3's at a much lower price of $9 each. That is pretty cheap for a Xeon bulb so it makes me wonder if their bulbs are not just standard Halogens with a blue film on the bulb. I have seen other companies do this and claim to be Xeon. Someday soon I am going to oder the PIAA's and may also order one of the RS bulbs just to compare.
