Hey iam 16 and I want to buy a quad, i want to get it used to save some money, i was wondering what the fastest 400cc quad out there is, and what is the easiest and cheapest to to work on, and repair.

fastest- z400/dvx/kfx

cheaper,durable- 400ex

 

I would look for a well built(but maintained) 416/426EX or 440EX/Z.. You can pick them up for good deals and the power increase from a stock one is substantial.

 

The Z400/KFX/DVX are the best all around 400cc quads out. The 400EX is the same price now and the Z400 still beats it in almost everything, if not everything.

 

I would have to say the DVX because it really good machine and its fast it kept up with my pred and i lost a kfx and a z400 in 2nd gear

i would definatly go with the Z400/KFX/DVX, i have personally never riden a DVX or KFX, but i haev a Z. They are wicked nice, reliable, fast quads. 04predrider, the 04 Z/kfx/dvx are identicle cept for the body..........did you mod. yours? stock is the same. unless you raced crappy riders your dvx wouldnt be any faster stock than the others. I would go with a Z400 cuz thats what i have.

all of these machines you guys are talking about have the same engines. just a different body style and logo on the tank. by the time you mod a 400 out, you might as well go with their bigger brothers like the 450f or 450r or maybe a used pred

 

You can get to low/mid 40's horsepower really cheap on the 400EX.. With less than $550 and about 8hrs worth of my time, I got mine pushing about 42hp. The 400EX is VERY easy to work on and is unmatched in terms of durability and quality. Both quads are good, but the choice is not as clear cut as some Z owners would have you believe.
