FMF SST Pipes, never hear talk about them
#1
Hey, how are the new FMF SST pipes? I never hear anything about them other than what FMF says about them.
If you have them or know anything about them how do they do against other pipes, like the fatty's, T5's, ect.
And I don't hear much on DMC's? Are they a good competitor with FMF and Toomey, or are they below them as far as performance?

I haven't heard anything about the SST pipes for the Yamaha Banshee, but my friend just got one for his KX125. He said it extremely increased his torque and low-end power. From what I hear, it is supposed to produce more low-end power and torque than any other pipe.
BUT, I do have a few friends with Banshees that have Toomey pipes. I hear the Toomey pipes are the best for Banshees, producing 10-15 hp. I don't know about that much hp but I rode my friend's Banshee before and after he had the pipes and it was a HUGE power increase. If I had a Banshee, I would get Toomey pipes.
The DMC pipes are pretty cool looking but I haven't heard much about them either.

Ok from what I hear... the SST pipes and silencers (you have to run the SST silencers as the PowerCore series do not fit the SST pipes) are the best pipe made for the Banshee period. I have not ridden them myself but from what a friend at Alba tells me they are better than Toomeys and Fattys. The DMC pipes are sort of like the 2 into 1 pipes like motofast. They increase the low to mid range power more than the topend. If I had the money I would get the SST pipes. I wouldn't get them if you ride in the woods though.

I HAD the SST pipe(part # SST-H42) ordered for my '89 250R about four months ago. After many Emails(with REPLIES) to(and from) FMF, I grew frustrated and cancelled my order last month. I recently(two weeks) ordered a Paul Turner Type 6 pipe(I ride mostly in the woods anyway) and LOVE IT!! The SST pipe IS ADVERTISED as a mid-topend pipe, so I really wonder about its TORQUE output. As for Banshee TORQUE pipes, 4 Wheel ATV Action named the Paul Turner Midrange pipe "the best Banshee Bottom/Midrange Pipe". As you can see I prefer the Paul Turner pipes over FMF by a HUGE MARGIN. I HAD a FMF T-14 Torque pipe on my "R", and it cannot begin matching the TORQUE of the Turner Pipe!! Besides the performance, the triple chrome-plate on my Turner looks AWESOME as compared to the FMF's nickel plate.

I would not be so quick to jump on the Paul Turners. I have SMOKED the Pretty Paul Turners more than a few times with my FMF Fattys (And boy was my buddy pissed after he spent over $650 for pipes and silencers alone!). Either hard pack or sand, its the same. IMO the Paul Turners are way over priced and DO NOT deliver what they promise. I can tell you though the chrome sure is pretty!!! Then again, Chrome dont get you HOME!
For 570 I got a whole power package compared to getting only some pretty pipes. Pretty good return on investment...

I don't know about everyone else. I don't like my Paul Turner Type 6. Its pretty, let me tell ya. but i don't like it, the low end was quite disappointing. I am getting either a Bills or FMF Tommorow for mX.
