Default Re-locating key on Honda 300ex

Put aftermarket bars on and took that ugly plastic off. Where should I mount the key switch? Side plastic? Just drill a hole?
Thanks

If the quad is new and you dont want to ruin the plastic by drilling a whole you can just put one of those metallic zip ties and mount the key switch lower on the handlebars.

Its a 95. I have no problem cutting into the plastic. Was just curious what others have done first.

what i did is i took it of and unplugged it and then plugged the wires together. this works good but over long period of time will kill ur battery. I dont heave headlight/taillight but in 5 or 6 days will kill it. so i unplugg it and stuff it by my gas tank. Then if someone steels it if they dont have any clue about keys etc. they are not going to figure it out. It has no power when its unpluged

I drilled a hole and mounted it on the right side. Looks and fits great. The Kawasaki Mojave I had was similiar.

if you wanted to eliminate the key all together, like kdawg said just plug the wires together.. i've had mine like that for a while now that i've put on maier plastic and renthals.. or i'm not electrically enclined but it sounds right to me.. buy a pro design kill switch or something and just cut and splice the ignition wires to the kill switch .. let me know if i'm wrong in this or not..

Chiming in late, but I replaced the plastic on my 2000 with one from a '97. It looks MUCH better!
