the mods you make will depend on the type of racing you plan on doing and what your budget is.
what direction of racing are you thinkinking.... are you going: cross country, GP, desert, MX, drag, hill climbs, flat track, or TT?

also- if your not sure, find some local races, go, watch, try it & decide if that's what you like & want to do.... before dumping money on a setup. stock most quads are OK all-around... but they can be refined to do what you'd like better. but don't go in expecting to win right off the bat. everyone's there to win, if they can...

mx just forget about it. Cross country u might stand a chance. Youll probably need a front bumper, confy bars, full skids, teather switch, a nice exhaust, and things like this. Remember Cross country racings isnt one of these 5 min. Racing you can be out there riding hard all day long. You gonna want to be confortable.

i ride in the sand mostly, but i also do a lot of drag racing, and have raced MX a bit. when it comes to sand, you need to have a good set of paddles and some HP, drag racing requires a lot of rpm's, so a new CDI would be a good investment, and for MX you would be best with suspension upgrades.

go to www.michigandirtslingers.com

You better get a tether kill switch, riding boots, gloves, goggles, helmet, and a chest protector (optional)

you will need a ATVA membership at www.atva.com 39 dollars per year

then a d-14 membership at 12 dollars. that form you print out at there website.

good luck and PM me with any questions.

Yes I do race in Michigan. This will be my first year on quads. I rode a YZ 125, 14 (wow) years ago as a young teen locally.

Like I said Michiagn Dirt Slingers is the site to go to answer most of your questions.

Another guy you want to look up if Ice racing is your thing is Maddog56 he is both here at this site and at MDS.

I wont run a full schedule, I know I will miss the first race at Portland..to far of a drive.
