Well I got the bright idea that I could just hot wire it after I lost all my keys. Needless to say after that little adventure the thing wont start. It rolls over and all(took out the key tumbler) but wont fire. Any ideas?? No power to the coil? Some slight wire smoke near the coil thought. Its a 2000 Scrambler 400 any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

 

um smoke near coil?!? you may have already blown big$$. check ground wires for burnt places and wiring harness for same. and get the key switch fixed or replaced. if you were trying this as a very temp. fix, such as loading onto truck or trailer, you can remove the front nose piece, locate the single blk wire going to cdi and unplug it. then pull start bike. DO NOT LET RUN LONG. you will have no power going to anything else, such as cooling fan, etc.
