For those of you who have installed the 12-tooth sprocket, how do you like it? Do any of you feel like you lost a bunch of top end, or does the motor rev out farther to compensate? I'm wondering if a compromise with rear sprocket gearing would be better, maybe a 41 or 42t. First, we need a swingarm skid with more clearance. Everyone please post their thoughts on this subject...stock first gear ratio is ridiculously high, so something needs to be done.

I installed one on my Raptor. To be honest with you, I have not ran a top speed test yet in 5th gear. I have had it up to speed in 4th and it pulls harder all the way through top end with seemingly no top speed loss. Mid range power is noticably stronger. I will run it with my Banshee soon and will post results with the 12 tooth sprocket.

I installed the 12 tooth last night, much better. I never ride in the sand or anywhere that lets me ever get into 5th gear so I never care about top speed, but for the woods riding I do, it was a requirement. winding through the tight trees in second before was terrible, when you slam the brakes around something tight and get back in the gas while in second, it just could not get into the midrange quick enough, and that is where this power is. If you were used to the 400 ex low 2nd gear jump right off throttle, you will hate the stock front sprocket. Don't everybody get excited, I'm not saying that the 400ex has anything on the Raptor - the Raptor is unbelievable!! But you have to be in the midrange and then it's incredible all the way through the gear. Again, I'm only talking about tight woods riding. If you are running coal mines and logging roads, stock will be fine, but I don't think you lose enough top to care when you go to the 12.

Good thought on the rear sprocket change as well. Now when they make that skid plate to compensate for this larger rear sprocket lets have them leave a little more room up front of it so we can get some chain lube on the top (inside) rollers of the chain. Its a little difficult to get it in there is it not?

The twelve tooth is the way to go.2nd gear is way to boggy with the stock 13 tooth and for trail riding you dont need all of the top end that the stock gearing has to offer.
