Default Riding gear

When I ride I usually wear jeans and work boots. I have been looking into some type of riding pants and boots. I have two utility quads and ride trails that are muddy and rocky. I am not looking to set a fashion statement when I ride but when I hit the first mud puddle and my jeans are soaked from the knee down it makes me think if I should wear something different. I was wondering what other people are wearing and if boots and pants are necessary or will I still have the same result after I hit the first mud puddle. Just throwing it out there. BART

Get some boots........they are great. Once you get them broke in, you won't wear anything else. I love mine. They are very protective, and will hold the water out up to your knee. Pants are water protective too(and I have some), but I don't know if you'd need them for sure. You might just try boots first. And, if you don't care what you look like(brand new or anything)........then I'd be going to some different websites, including this one, and posting your size and saying your looking for some riding boots. Lots of guys have them, and are letting them go for pretty cheap, in good shape still. Be sure to check out www.exriders.com Lots of people on that site.......you'll find some there

motosportoutlet.com has good package deals on pants/jersey/gloves for like $89 and boots are either $89 or $99. I have also been looking at getting some for when I go riding cause I am tired of getting my jeans all stained with mud and filthy water.

I like to wear O'Neal Element Pants and shirts ... they work well for temps between 50 and 100, rain or dry ... for boots i wear Red Wings work boots ... with steel toe, steel shank, and water proof.

Also they seam to hold to my riding style very well

I like to wear full gear(pants, jersey and boots) First off boots are a must a good pair like Thor or Oneals wont set you back too much. The pants and jersey are good for a couple reasons 1. they dry faster than jeans and tee shirts 2.I hate ruining a $30 pair of jeans every time I ride(riding gear will get stained but not ruined) You can find good deals at www.motorcyclecloseouts.com

i wear thor riding pants, i switch from a polaris jersey to a fox jersey and o'neal boots, love the set up, just like BradRacer said, once u get the boots broke in there all u'll wear. I even wear mine in the winter! i put 3 layers of socks on and leave it at that, but gear is definently a must be because then u dont have to worry about staining it just like every1 said

Man, You must have read my mind, I've been thining about upgrading from jeans to a good pair of riding pants, wouldn't need the jersy but what the heck, might as well. are oneal the best bang for the buck for boots??? what about FOX? I will have to check out these outlets for gear, but would like to hear from someone who has tried the different brands. What will keep you the driest and dry out the fastest when it is wet???

Thanks for the info guys I will start looking for a pair of boots and pants. I found a nice pair of pants by O'Neal and they were waterproof. Like some of you said my jeans get stained from the mud and once they are wet I'm that way for the rest of the day. BART

oh yeah, forgot, riding gear drys very fast actually, i was out on a spring ride last spring and we were hittin big puddles in ditches (more like ponds) and i would be soaked, like entirely soaked! In about 10 minutes of cruising (averaging 40-55 mph) i was dry so it does dry very good
