Funny Polaris Story

Yesterday I went over my wifes parents house to visit and we had gotten about 6-7 inches of snow, her dad was out at the dog club so the driveway had not been touched yet. her mom told me that I could get her dad's 94 polaris xplorer out and plow the driveway if I felt like it so naturally I was like hell ya. I went out to the back garage and turned the key on to find the battery wasn't charged enough to turn the motor over with the electric starter so I pulled on the recoil a few times and it fired right up. I gave it a bit of gas and it died on me so I pulled on the recoil a few more times to find the motor would not restart. I used my wifes 700EFI that we keep at her parents house to push the xplorer up the front garage where all the tools and battery charger are. I hooked up the charger thinking I would just use the electric starter to get it to fire up and it didn't help, by then I figured the quad was flooded so I removed the seat and looked in the storage box to find a new spark plug. I removed the side panel and then got the spark plug out, it looked wet and very very black so I put the new spark plug in after turning the cylinder over a few times to air it out. the motor still wouldn't start. I used a bit of starter fluid and it fired right up but died, my wifes mother came out and said "Did you turn the gas on" I said crap I forgot these stupid carbed models have the gas on/off valve on them. well I think she found the problem cause the fuel wasn't turned on and it fired right up after I turned the gas on, well I guess at least the quad has a new spark plug in it now! done that a couple times when going to pull it off the trailer.
The first time i was actually distressed and thought there was a problem for a few minutes, til i realized.
Now i catch on right anyway...well most the time!

ive done that a few times on our 500, i havent gotten to the point of EFI-itus as we never shut the fuel off on our 500, i really see no point in doing so.
