Does your 700 EFI ever die during initial minute of cold startup?
#1
I've had my 700 EFI quit a few times on cold startups within the first minute of running. This occurred in 20-30(F) degree temps. It has always started back up but had to do it twice one time. It seems it occurs during the first minute of running as idle is stabilizing. I wonder if I have had some bad gas or maybe time to swap plugs. ATV runs fine otherwise and EFI codes have been stored. It appears my AWD is tending to stay on as other threads talk about but not a big deal since the conditions I am usually in need the traction anyway.

I've got the 2005 700 EFI and never had it die on me. Maybe it is time to change plugs, but doesn't seem normal and haven't heard of this from anyone else. May be time to put on the computer at the dealer and see what is going on. You can always pull the plugs and check them. Also, make sure your air filter is clean, could also be a problem.

I'll probably check and replace the plugs. I plan to take into dealer in about a month to finish off fuel line recall (I already wire loomed lines so not in a hurry) and to check AWD sticking issue. I also need to correct my original message... there weren't any EFI codes stored. I've had fuel pump/tank assembly replaced and currently have about 700 miles on it.

Has never happened to mine either... but then again I'v barely ridden mine! Check your plug wires, are they tightly connected to the plugs? Spray your plug wires with a mist of water just after starting it cold, do use see any sparks or did it die/run rough? could be a bad plug wire/connection or if you can't find anything else try new plugs. Let us know what you find.

I hate to say it but it may have a fuel pump going out on it. Mine did that before it quit and would start back up also, it had 11 miles on the odo.

Yeah I thought about that. If that were the case would that make me the first here to have 2 fuel pumps replaced?

Mine did it once or twice when it was 20 below zero. It started right back up and ran fine. It never does it anymore just when it was really cold outside when i shouldnt have started it anyway, to cold to ride.
