I was wondering if any of you guys knew how to make paper mache'. I had a guy on a Raptor challenge me to a few laps race for fun on a MX track. I figured that if I got some paper mache' A-arms or rear axle, I would be more evenly matched. HELP!!!

That'll start a flame war when the Yamaha guys see it... They won't like what I have to say either, but it's the way it is. Probably a couple hundred spectators watched it unfold.

You really don't have much to worry about, unless the rider of the Raptor is MUCH better than you.

I raced with a Raptor last night in several events at a local ATV rodeo. The Raptor had severe body roll, looked top heavy and awkward the whole time he rode it. He turned pretty poor lap times.

Anyway, he was not a contender in any of the events. A lowly little stock (except shocks) 400EX beat em all in 3 of 4 events. The 4th was won by a Banshee and was a TT style oval track lap race. The 400 was out horsepowered, but still not beaten by the Raptor.

Even though I own a Raptor and think it is a better quad than my previous 400ex and current Banshee, this is still pretty funny. I'll send some paper so you can have an advantage.

Guys...I found an interesting post in another forum. Hopefully, the originator won't mind since it has not been altered. I thought I would post it to be fair.
"Last night at a local MX race they all showed up in the pro quad class. But one of the riders who's usual ride is a 250r was on a raptor, a blue one infact. At the start a 250r got the holeshot with the raptor right behind it. It cleared the big double and was passed by another 250r but it passes both 250r's one in the whoops and the other on a straight. It sweeps the moto, the 3 banshee's and 1 400ex didnt even come close. Next moto it didnt do so well and ended up in 3rd getting beat by those 250rs. The quad seemed good in the whoops and corners but when that thing landed on the 40ft double you heard it go qaaaaa-thump. But this thing was bone stock and all the other quads were heavily modded. The riders were kind of matched up in skill levels since it was the pro class. But it sure did seem like a nice quad. I will try to get some of the pictures up soon."
Does'nt sound to bad to me!

I do a lot of MX riding, from what I have seen, I have a VERY hard time believing that unless that guy (on a stock Raptor) was a MUCH better rider than the other guys, he would be competitive at all with properly setup 250R's.

What are guys in the "Pro" class doing only clearing 40' doubles anyway. Childs play....

Ethan, you out there? Have any Raptors shown up for the Surdyke series? I assume since Surdyke is a Yamaha dealer, they would want their flagship out there.....

Thanks for the post though, hadn't seen that one.

Bah, don't waste your time with the paper crap, use cardboard and duct tape! It'll be MUCH stronger, almost as light, and have that oh-so-cool chrome look from the duct tape.
