To Buy or Not To Buy...The Extended Warranty?
#1
I'm heading up to Southern Honda on Friday to purchase a Foreman 500. I'm a little frustrated, the fella that I spoke with made the statement that he wouldn't buy the new 500 without the extended warranty. Now, I know those guys make their money selling warranties and accessories but what would you suggest? Southern Honda charges around $600 for thier extended warranty coverage. Is that too much? Why would that guy make that statement? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Yoda. This may sound stupid but are warranties transferable no matter what dealership you purchase them from? For example, could I purchase one from ProMotorSports and still have warranty work done at my local Honda dealership?

If I had bought an old style Foreman I would not have bought a warranty. But since I bought the first AT on the floor from my dealer I thought I should buy it. It may be a Honda but that was a new tranny in the quad soooo, better safe than sorry.

Are you going to the one in chattanooga? Thats where i bought mine and I bought the 4 year warranty it was $500 for my 300ex. I wish I would have known about the 3 year warranty I think its about half the price but they didn't mention it to me he just wanted me to buy the 4 year I guess. I would ask about the 3 year if I could do it over.

I just bought a Rancher AT and paid $490 for the 3 1/2 year warranty. I purchased it over Presidents weekend so I got $50 off which would make the total $540. The finance person told me that they get points for each warranty sold and those points lead to a bonus. It ended up costing me about $15 extra a month which, to me, seems to be a good deal considerring that I will not have to pay for any problems. Another thing is that there is NO milage restrictions.

I'd pass on the warranty. Your buying a Honda anyway. There is nothing a dependable as a honda.
It's to put more money in there pocket. You would be better off taking that $600 and putting it in a saving account and making that your extended warranty. Consumers reports magazine also suggest passing on them.

Just wanted to say thanks for the replies. I wish they were a little more one-sided but everyone has their opinion.
