I was woundering if anyone has had any luck pumping up a kodiak?
My wife wanted an automatic and the kodiak seemed to be the best mix of size features and power.
We ride mostly in the dunes and after riding it for a while now on the trails I think it would be nice to get just a little more out of it to help her have all she needs for the sand....
I'm thinking the standard Pipe, and air ???? Anything else that you know of whould be great to know of.. It's a 2005 450 Kodiak

I think you"ll find it will develop more power after getting 500 miles on it. Atleast mine seems to have. I just got done moding out a new 250EX Put vents in the air box with a Uni-filter,whitebrother exhaust and rejetted the carb. It will really wheelie now! Now I'm thinking about an exhaust for my kodiak along with new airfilter and vents. Kinda thinking like you. Let us know what you try. How does she like the kodiak? Any problems?

She's only riden it around the yard once so far ?? I have rode it a few times. I now have 9.2 hours on it..LOL .
As for how I like it ,, I love it!
It's no Banshee but it's not made to be!
Every quad have a cost,,, to get a feature you have to give up another,,, Ya know what I mean.
It's a great bike! The wife was in a BAD car wreck years ago and she has Steel rods holding her bones together in her arms and legs so the fact she even rides is ????? She also came from white collar working background (dads a accountant) She had never even been on the back of street bike before me.. I started her on the sand in a Honda pilot and then I got her on a little recon 250ES she loved not having to be strapped in. She never wanted to try to climb even little hills due to a few times not making it with the little recon.
That's why I bought the Kodiak,,,, Size and power plus all she has to do is put it in gear and give it gas,, It's a VERY user freindly bike....
FOR Me... I want all the power I can get!!!
I love the features the Kodiak has. I'm in excavation and construction so it's a great tool and it's a write off for taxes!! LOL!!
Where do you ride?

Sounds like the perfect ATV for her. It will develop more power as it breaks in. I haven't found a hill that it couldn't climb. I ride quite a few different places from hard packed back county rodes to my buddies farm wich has every kind of terrian. We didnt get much snow this year so I dont know how it rides on snow. I'm ordering some new Dirtdevils tires next week and cant wait to try them out.
I've used mine alot this winter to pull up loads of firewood on a plastic sled and it's been great for that. Also welcome to this site. There are a great bunch here and can really help you out with any questions. Have fun!

Thanks!! It's the first time I have ever used a forum,, Kinda cool!
I am actualy pretty good at wrenching so I am sure I will be able to get the most out if her bike but there is no sense in re-inventing the wheel if someone knows what to do first hand,,
I'm by Seattle so there are MILES of trails but I love the sand!
Talk to you again some time soon and I'll let you know what I come up with that works well!!
