stupid questions about DS 650

i am new to the forums and i am looking at buying a ds 650 but i dont know a whole lot about them so i was wondering if they are pretty reliable machines have you guys had good luck with yours, and do they have alot of power i weigh about 285 lbs so i would like some power but i am not really impressed with the raptors power or handling. i have found a '02 baja that is pretty clean what is a reasonable price to pay for that year. well i would appreciate any input that anyone has. thanks

the motor is made by rotax. rotax=bullet . if the engine is maintaned like it should be it will run great. since you said you are a big guy this is also a reason to go with the ds. ten year olds dont ride ds's so why should a guy over 250 ride a yfz450 that is the size of a power wheels. since you are on the bomb forum you are gonna get a biased response but all in all i love mine and i reccomend it to people i think would like it. if you said you were a 150lbs and looking to get into motocross i would say a 450. if the 02 baja is stock and truly clean i would offer around 3k. maybe a little more or a ittle less.

Im 6'4" 225 lbs and I can tell you the Bomb is much more comfortable than any other bike I have owned or ridden. Yes its heavy, yes its a little more difficult to throw around on a track or in tight woods, but for general riding or especially in the dunes, I cant find another quad to beat it. It has good power and from watching posts in this foruk and my own experiences with this quad, reliability has been good.
PS If you read other forums for different bikes and makes, I can promise you 1 thing.......this is the most helpful group of bike owners on the planet. Everyone has been great and you have very little bashing like you see in the other forums.
Good luck with whatever choice you make.

I am 6'4" 270lbs. I got the bomb because of the size and power. I love the feel of it. Trust me when I say that the bomb will break you before you break it. I got my on the weekend of 2/26/05 and put 25 really really hard hours on her right away. Sure I changed the oil after about 6 hours, but I rode it like I was on fire. I wanted to see if I could break it. I hit large rock at 30 miles an hour (accidentally) and all I did was put my steering out of alinement. I rode it from 2200 feet to 6500 feet in 40 minutes in ruff terrain. I scratched it up and beat it up.
After the trip I was in much worse shape then the bike. I am going to get the steering fixed and get the valves adjusted as per the manual, but from one big guy to another this bike is a tank and is awesome! Change the oil and follow the manual suggested maintenance and she will last you forever.
RAPTORS SUCK!!!!

about 500 pounds dry for the DS650X. I am curently looking into one but wife wont let me get it untill some other things are paid off. Parts are generall not stocked at the stores so if you need something it will have to be ordered, but I have a warrior right now and its the same damn story with that bike. From what I have read there really isnt too much you have to do to get that beast ready to rumble, which is one of the reasons I want one. Witht the X it is pretty much set up to be beaten on, just order the new exhaust cap and filter, reject and then haul ***. Everyone that I have talked to about the Bomb's say the same thing, BUY ONE!

An authorized bombardier dealer will have some parts like the filter and oil you will need. But as for upgrades and mods for the bomby they are a little harder to find and usually more expensive. The bike is the fastest and toughest bike even before the mods. You will like it even without the mods and upgrades.
