top speed ac500

Who really cares. It is an ATV, All Terrain Vehicle and is meant for trail riding, rock crawling, mud pits, etc. Top speed is about racing and horsepower(not what makes an ATV workable, that's what torque is for). That said, just about 60 mph with is too fast for 5 or 6 PSI knobby tires.

I really care!!!This question was just for comparison as we can't but them in a mud pit here can we?
And what does ABOUT 60 mean?? Mine will do ABOUT 80 give or take 20 or 30.
Just trying to see how mine stacks up performance wise!!!
By the way I was expecting a reply from one of the young guns, who doesn't care about the 5#psi.Myself being 58,I don't do much high end either..

Well you ain't the only 58 year old doing this. My 2005 400 manual will do 48 on a slight up incline and 54 on a slight down incline. On the flat she does 52 on the bike's speedo. My GPS (actually both of mine agree) that the bike's speedo is at least 2mph to the feel good side. A 500 is gonna be good for 58 to 61, at least the guys riding them claim that. I have personally seen 70 on a Sportsman 700 and the GPS said 72.

I would guess somewhere around 53-55 for a 500. The one I had never did better than 52-53 on a GPS but it was a 99 model too. They have a changed a few minor things since then. But my speedometer would always peg out at 60 on that one. Don't know how the new speedo's are, but the old ones are full of shiznit.

last time we went out riding, my uncle hit 58 on his 04' 500 no mods he weighs about 190-195 pounds. i hit 63 with my 650 and i weigh 240 pounds. With a lighter rider i bet my 650 will hit 68 easily. we were riding on an almost completely flat asphalt runway at an airport that we ride at. by the way i took a pic of my speedo when i hit 60, kinda freaks you out going that fast with only one hand on the bars, feeling every little bump. the pic is in my profile.

Top speed- Well my experience with my 03-AC500 with my big body (190#) down hill with a tail wind and 26 ITP's is about 50. And that's faster than I need to go. The thing is just fantastic in the mud though and will pull my friends out of some bad situations. Kind of what it's made for.

I have a 05 500 manual shift, and the best it has done was 65 indicated. That was going down a small hill. My hand held GPS shows that the speedometer is 4 MPH to the high side. Level ground, GPS shows 58. Plenty fast for a stock cat.
