Pred 90 lights

Anyone install lights on a stock preditor 90?
I have seen some ATV light kits on http://www.driving-lights.com/
These are 35 watts,
Do they run off just the battery or as long as the bike is running it is charging?
Our battery is currently weak from lack of riding lately but the bike kicks over just fine, I guess a full day of riding may recharge it?
Thanks for any and all help.

I have them installed on both of mine, they run off the battery which is charged by the stator. The lights were easy to install and work great! p.s just by a new battery, the o.e.m one is junk it will only last about one season.

I just installed a headlight on my daughters sportsman 90... hooked it up straight to the battery with the inline fuse and switch provided.. installed it in the existing light housing..... I got it from O'Riley's Auto parts.. think it was $19.00... 35w bulb, they had 2 different sets that said 35w on the box but only one actually had 35w bulbs in it, I had to open up the box and the light to verify.. I havent had time to test it out, other than riding around the yard for 10-20 min and it seemed ok....

What brand were those lights. I just pruchased a SP 90 '04 and want to install lights. Can you give more details regarding the set up and the brand name of the lights. Did they fit into the square hole in the "grill" and did they mount easily or did you have to make modifications? Give me the scoop. Thanks.

Hey guys,
Like I said the lights came from O Rily's Auto parts
Blazer Extreme Series XT861 20-3546-6 aprox. $21.00 after taxes
Here are some Pics

after talking to several forum members I found out that the stator could only put out enough
to support about a 35w light and still charge the battery.. with this in mind I decided to just
install 1 of the 2 lights in the handlebar light housing.. eventhough I thougt it would look much
better to have 2 lights on the bumper replacing the fake ones...
I also purchased a small 8x10 sheet of plexiglass from Lowes which was about $4.00
( this was to replace the existing lense in the handlebar headlight)
I cut out a square replacment lense cover with a razor knife, and solidering iron,
so I didnt tear up the origional, I also cut an oval hole in the plexiglass so the
actual light could stick out some.. basically the plexiglass was to keep the dirt
and crud out... glued it in place with clear silicon..
the light mounted right up to an existing bracket within the light housing.
ran the power and ground from the battery up to the handlebars, tyraping the wires to
the frame.. I drilled a hole in the left side fendor for the provided lighted toggle switch...

Send a PM to Spike99... we have been working on this for a while...and he can tell you all the pitfalls.. and damage that can be done to your stator. 35 watts are really maxing it out and he has suggestions for remedying this. Check out his profile page too for many many common sense modifications for this machine.

For our Ped-90, 32ish watts "full load" is the max we can do. We can run 35 watts (or even higher watt full load drain) but over time, our battery starts to drain. When it gets too low, we use the kick starter to re-start the engine. Or, we use the manual 12V over ride switch to quickly recharge our battery while driving during the day.
For the SP-90, I'm not too sure if 38 watts (re: 35 front light + LED fronts + rear tail brake light) will blow a stator or rectifier / regulator unit - but I'm sure over time, it does over stress these parts to knock a few years off their life. If 38 watts drains your battery too much, downgrade the main bulb to 25w or less. I hear MR16-20w bulbs are really good for a main light. Nicely shaped mirror to allow both forward and angled lighting. If only using for DRLs, I'd go with 1 x MR16-20 or 1 x MR16-15 (special order) bulbs in the Center Pod. MR11-20s could work great as well but MR16s much be a much better fit. These 20w bulbs + front LEDs + 5W tail light is well under 32ish limit. This combination creates good Driving Lights for cloudy day in dark bush driving, yet still allows the Polaris mini batteary to charge.
