Is a 05 400ex faster than a 04 400ex? and if so how much faster. Thanks

 

It is 11 pounds heavier. If it is different it would be a fuzz slower.

 

The 05 has a 14t sprocket as the 04 has a 15t so the 05 should accelerate quicker but have less top speed.

 

the gearing went from 15/38 to 14/39. with this being said, i would bet money that the internals were changed. i could see with different internals the bike could be a little quicker or slower for that matter. i doubt it is slower, but that is just a guess.

 

who realys cares about which bike is faster all teh older ex's have mods well most do at least so most older ex's will take a new 05...in my opinion

well.. the 05 has reverse.. so that adds a lil weight.. but it has faster xcel than the 04.

I believe they also changed the transmission gear ratios .. think I read that somewhere ... caused a little upset, since the EX was widely regarded before to have an excellent transmission setup ...

So who really knows??

 

they should of left the old looks to it.....atleast yamaha dont make there raptors look IDENTICAL lol
