Default Oil in airbox

No matter how careful I am, a little filter oil always ends up dripping in my airbox.

Isn't there supposed to be some kind of gasket to keep oil from getting in the oil filter?

Are you changing the topic? I thought you were asking about air filters and oil in the airbox.

warmdye and I were suggesting the oil that you found in your airbox was oil used on your air filter, not motor oil from your engine.

Air filters must be treated with air filter oil in order to work effectively. Sometimes a little drips off into an ATVs airbox.

If your engine is experiencing a condition known as "blow-by" it could force engine oil from the crankcase through the oil vent into the airbox. However, "blow by" is generally accompanied by a loss of compression and power, which you probably would have noticed.

Did you roll the machine over or stand it on its end?

It is just something these sideways mounted ute engines do. This happens on my Ranchers, Recon, and 250EX, sometimes big time! Rumor was that later model Ranchers had a baffle installed to prevent oil from splashing into the vent???
