how do u guys slow down?

I like the better control I get with down shifting (but not when I am going so fast that I will float a valve!). I also add in enough front brake to keep the back from skidding. Still, there are sometimes when you just have to lay on the brakes. Sometimes it has to be back brake only, like when your front end is headed into a rut (and a guarenteed endo), and sometimes both brakes.
I teach my kids the drill of pulling in the clutch, then evenly apply the back and front brakes so they have it down in case of an emergercy stop.
