Default Maybe an easier way to change the oil?

I was looking at my oil lines the last few days and was wondering about something, people say to take the line of off your motor behind your jugg and the line on the bottom of the tank to drain the oil, very messy but I was wondering if there is any way I could take the peice of steel tubing that connects the line from the tank to the line to the motor and have a plug welded in?or something else so all you would have to do is pull the plug right there which is the low spot of the two and let it drain into a pan, I'm not sure I would want to use plastic maybe use somekind of a quick drain plug somehow, anyone have any ideas or thoughts about this? thanks

Oil Valve

We just went through this and came up with a drain valve on the bottom of the oil tank. You get this valve that has a nipple on it so you can push on a drain hose. You leave the valve on the bike. This should make it a very easy process.

yes i have read all the threads pertaining to this and your valve screws into the fitting in the bottom of the tank that has the magnet in it right? I would like to keep my magnet and put a fitting or plug lower in the oil system so I could drain more oil out of my lines, thanks

Good point! Isnt there a magnet in the bottom case drain? Well lets think of a way to keep a magnet in the oil tank also, then it would be complete. How about that screen? Any way to get a magnet to fix to that? Or can you put this valve in the return line.....thats what you were kinda looking at right?

I would like to put the valve in the feed line right by the tube that is inline and has a bend to go under the frame, I"d like to put it on the motor side of that tube somehow, i am making some calls today to see about having a plug or somekind of valve put on it by drilling a hole then welding a plug fitting on, but would like anyones opinions thanks baja

p.s. I'm sure if we all put our heads together we could come up with something

my cdrom parts list says it is 15.8 mm and the hose says it is 5/8 and the outside of the tube measures .627 in, .625 in. is 5/8 so i would think 5/8 would work

how about just getting ride of the metal section. then put a inline drain valve between two peices of hose. then you would not have to mod that section of metal hose. you just would not want anything hanging down.

I have emailed the company that makes these locking valves asking for an in line drain. Lets see what they come up with. I also gave them a link to this thread.
