Hey fellas.
I'm about to sign the papers on a new brute force and I'd like to know your honest opinions on what problems I can expect in the future so I can grill the salesman when I go back to sign on the dotted line. If he tries to bull*hit me I'll go to another dealer. I'd also like to know how fast I can be going when I lock the front end, and can I hold the bike to the pin in the deep Muck with all the wheels locked. thanks and I appreciate the posts.

I believe it is just like the prairies It takes a few feet to lock in the from 2wd to 4wd , but after your in 4wd the diff lock is instant at any speed just squeeze the lever and hold on cause your only gonna go straight, you'll need hulk arms to turn it, but you'll go through anything.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Well i just bought one 2 weeks ago and ive done a bit of riding. First is the stock tires suck they make the whole machine feel tippy when cornering, a nice set of raidals will significantly help. The second thing i have heard is when guys are putting big mud tires on there hurting the tie rods. But from what there saying they are really abusing the machine too the point where youve got to expect things to give. As for the Front Diff lock when i bought mine i asked that specific question and they said that you can switch it in on the fly just as long as you arnt spinning your tires while you are engaging it. And i see no reason why you couldnt pin in the muck just as long as you dont have a monster set of 589's on it. i was told it could handle a set of 27's no problem but if you go bigger thats where you hit the problems. But other than that the thing is a sweet machine couldnt ask for a better ride. Hope this helped, and remember this is just my opinion others are shure to be differant.

I have owned a brute force for about 5 months now and the only problems I have had was that the front needle in carb had to be replaced (covered under warrenty), and I also have put on some ITP type5 wheels and 26" ATR's improved the ride tremendously. The brute will only get faster the more you ride! Great ATV you will not be dissapointed IMHO.

One of our forum members posted a long list of negatives about the BF within the last 90 days. None of them were serious if I remember right.

Maybe he'll come on and talk to you, or do a search. Let us know if you can't find it.

Here goes:

- Front carb needle is too lean and will need to be replaced, Kawi will do this for free

- A-arm recall if your vin# is affected, also free

- The stock tires are garbage and have to replaced immediately. I went with a 26" ITP 589 & C4 kit in black. It's like a new machine.

- *Some* people claim that water/snow/mud can get into the airbox. I have never experienced this but I do take things slowly and carefully. I suspect that most of these cases can be attributed to going into water that's WAY too deep. Thats your fault, NOT Kawasakis.

- Steering effort is pretty high with this machine. It will take some getting used to.

- The rear brake cable has a tendency to freeze up in any kind of cold weather so be careful. The choke cable plunger is also tight and the choke may not fully disengage. Have your dealer check this and rectify it.. Mine did for free.

- Power is sick.... it feels faster than most cars on the road [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

- Get used to other trail riders gawking at your quad and making comments like "That's a 750?" "That thing is huge!". Etc, etc.

- The tie rods are supposedly weak, but like the airbox problem I suspect that it only affects those that are pushing the machine too much. If you run 29" tires and jump the thing.... then you can expect the tierods to fail. I mean...duh?

That's about it. I have 1500 miles on mine and the belt is still tight and going strong. I'm happy overall.

s2mikey: Thanks for posting this list once again. I have have saved it to my word document notes and will quote you when this question comes up again. I don't agree or disagree with it, but I do think it was an honest try at an evaluation on your part.

Couldn't find your original post, although I searched for it last night and again today. No matter, since you have posted it once again. If I remember the original, you have mellowed.

One question that gets different responses: Is the BF750 tippy? How is it on sidehills?

Yeah, the original can be found at Nyrocs ATV website. He posted it under Brute Force Tips.

As for tippiness, that can be taken care of with aftermarket wheel kits, I have the 589's and C4's. Stock it is tippy.

I'll add one more that mine is doing, and I have heard others doing also. The shifter needs adjusted after a while, my reverse light comes on sometimes, sometimes it doesnt and its real hard to shift. Not phisically hard to shift, it just doesnt want to go into the gears. It will not shift at all unless its running. Anybody know if this is something I can do myself or do I have to drag it back to the dealer for the 15th time?

2005bf750: If you go to nyroc's site, you will see how to adjust the linkage. It is not hard at all.

There may be a small chance that loose motor mount bolts are causing your problem. If not, it's good to torque them up once in awhile anyway, cause they do loosen up and even fall out.....hate it when that happens.
