Default whats this plug for??

I have a 04 p700. when you look down between the frame by the battery on either the tranny or engine case there is a brass cap just to the left of the bike. what is it for?? I thought I once read it was for adding oil to the tranny. a while ago I psted a similar question about changing tranny fluid. the responses I got back was the tranny was lubricated by engine crank case oil. is this true? and what is that brass cap for???

Is the plug on the crankcase?

If so, it may be the plug that you remove to let you see the timing mark so that you can set the engine at top dead center (TDC) to adjust the valve clearances and other adjustments that must be made with the engine at TDC.
