im making this topic to hear your opnions of the 400ex, and if you think i should sell my blaster and save up for a 400ex. Heres the situation, i have a 1990 kx125 and a 94 blaster which i have a 400ex shock on, kenda klaws on douglas blacklabels. bored .2 , blocked off oil injection, and pro circuit pipes(coming tuesday). i like my blaster overall, but now im noticing how small this quad is. i like it cause its so nimble and all, and with maybe 200 for a swingarm extension, 450 for a-arms and couple hundred for a banshee axle , and like 200 for hydro brakes and i'd be set. i want a race quad cause theyre always funner, but i want total reliability. i want a quad to mess around on when i'm not racing the 125 that i am going to race when i sell my 1990 kx. how does the 400 wheelie? handle jumps? corner etc. does it act light and flickable? and most important, is it easy to hop up? cause thats one thing i love about my blaster. what you guys think i should do?

 

for instance, i love that banshee axles fit on blasters, as do banshee front shocks. so all i would need is a-arms and it'd be pretty wide. are some 450r parts like shocks(front and back) and/or axles and a-arms compatable? something i dont like about 4 strokes is how much their pipes are.... 800 for a friggen pipe?!?!?!!

 

You can find four stroke pipes in the neighborhood of 300 bucks and up. It sounds to me like you're ready to move up to a 400ex.

 

slip ons or full systems?

 

u can get a full system for around 550.00 all the way up to almost 1000.00 ... i've never seen anything lower then 550.00 ..
as far as silencers go i've seen them 200.00+ ...
go with a used one off ebay..

and a 400ex is really reliable, easy to upgrade, cheapest "new" sport quad out there compared to it's brothers the kfx and z400's --- i have a 400ex .. wouldnt trade it for anything except for maybe an R..

ied definitly get the 400 and yes from what i have herd 400ex's have interchange able parts , i think w/ the 250R , correct me if iam wrong plz

 

250R parts are interchangable with 400ex. My one buddy has 250R A-arms on his 400ex.

 

cool, how much wider are 250r arms? and what about the axle is the 250r axle compatable as well? is it wider as well? what about shocks? 450rs? 250rs?
